There are many ways to get targeted followers on Twitter.  For example, you can find someone in your market and follow people who are following them.  Still, your new follower list will not be all that targeted, as you cannot know who are following because they want information in that market, as opposed to those who only followed to get followers.  You would have to visit every single one of those profiles to find out.

To get the most targeted followers (and this is real easy!), go to Twitter Search and type in a hash tag related to your market.  Obviously, anyone using that particular hash tag in their post is interested in that topic.  So, once you get your search results, open each profile in a new window and follow them.

EXAMPLE: If you are marketing anything PS3 related, type #ps3 into the search field and hit Enter.  You can follow every resulting profile, or decide whether you want to follow or not by reading the posts that come up for the search, or viewing each profile.

Any way you choose to do that is still very targeted.  You can get more targeted with #ps3 games ?.  To be extremely targeted, you might search for something like #ps3 #gta or #ps3 #controller.

Dave, Interesting idea. Question is, what will be ratio of returning followers? I mean, how many of them will follow back? Have you tried it?

      Hey Joel,

Yes I do this and it definitely works. I haven’t done any actual calculations, but off the top of my head, I get about 7-8 return followers for every 10 that I follow. Most people follow back, if the original follower’s (your) profile is not pure marketing.

If you haven’t already, set up a Twitter account based on HGH, write some helpful information in the “About Me” section and follow people that would most likely be interested in that topic. Try to refrain from following other affiliate marketers – they’ll make you look bad.
