Viral marketing offers many benefits to online and offline businesses. Below are listed just a few.

Viral Marketing is Very Targeted

It is very likely that your marketing message will reach your target audience, since it will be shared among people who will be interested in it. This minimizes the risk of your advertising being wasted on viewers who have no interest in your products and services.

Viral Marketing is Extremely Low-Cost

Simply put, once you have created the marketing message to be passed around, others will be doing the passing around. So your only cost, if any, is in developing the original product that will transport the message. Your viral message can reach hundreds of thousands of people with little or no financial investment!

Viral Marketing Techniques are Easy to Employ

There are countless methods of spreading a viral message and all of them are easily accomplished. Among those methods are sending email that people can forward to their contacts, creating videos which others can share and embed on their websites, and offering ebooks for free download from your own web site.

Viral Marketing has a High Response Rate

Since a good number of your target market will be reached, you can expect a high turnover ratio. Even those new prospects who do not convert to profits immediately, may subscribe to your mailing list, through which you can continue to promote.

These are just a few of the many excellent benefits a business can gain by incorporating viral marketing techniques into their advertising campaigns.

Click here to enroll in a detailed viral marketing e-course and discover many more benefits, advantages and techniques of viral marketing!

Whether your website is for business or for pleasure, it cannot be successful without generating [...]

Whether your website is for business or for pleasure, it cannot be successful without generating targeted traffic. Web traffic is crucial to a successful website. If your website is not getting the web traffic that you want, then here’s how to increase web traffic to your site.

WordPress

First and foremost, if your website is not built on WordPress, install a WordPress blog in addition to what you’ve already got.

Create a subdomain with the name of your broad keyword and install WordPress into that. The subdomain (i.e. your keyword) will be the first thing in your website’s address when your blog shows up in search results. That will help to get you a better position in the results.

Search Optimization

A lot of people talk about search engine optimization. But, using various keyword research tools, you can see that too many of them do nothing BUT talk. Their keywords show up in their page content, but nowhere in their headers or headings. Not showing up in search results is not a good way to increase web traffic to your site.

Just make sure to do your on-page optimization properly and you can easily beat out most of your competition (if you want to call them that). Don’t skip to off-page factors before you have optimized the page, itself. Otherwise, your competition’s inattention to detail will likely beat yours.

Blogs & Forums

Commenting on other people’s blogs and on forums is an excellent way to increase web traffic to your site, real fast. But there are several things to keep in mind.

Never spam! If you are promoting something, don’t link directly to it. Write a blog post at your own site that links to your promotion and then link your comments to that post.

Everywhere you post is a place that you need to drive traffic to. Submit it to search engines, at the very least.

You are posting on someone else’s website to get traffic back to yours. Don’t be shy about giving back a little. One way to do this is by working their keyword into your comment. This can give them just a little more weight in search engines to increase web traffic to their site. Another way is to give a related tip on the subject of the post. By doing this, you are providing extra value to the blog owner’s readers.

Leave meaningful comments. If your comments just say stupid crap like, "Thanks for this!" the only thing that you will accomplish is getting blacklisted. Only provide quality comments. The comments that you leave effect the way people see you and whether or not they will click through to your site.

Articles & Press Releases

Write articles that link back to your site. Don’t just post your arcticles on article directories, though. Make several versions of them and post them at social sites, content forums; even some classifieds websites have places that you can post articles to increase web traffic to your site.

Submit press releases. These can land on Google’s first page as fast as a new WordPress blog. As in, within minutes!

Ebooks & Ecourses

Create eBooks and pass them around for free. You can choose to have people sign up for them, or just allow them to download them freely. If there is no sign up requirement, you will get more downloads. But there is also no guarantee that you will ever see the downloader again. If you have them opt in, you can contact them later.

Providing an ecourse not only gets poeople on your list so that you can bring them back to your site later, but it also promotes YOU as someone who knows enough about a subject to instruct on it.

Follow these tips on how to increase web traffic to your site and you will definitely see a lot more targeted, quality visitors!

Now and then I send a message to my mailing list about what is, by far, one of the greatest seo tools for keyword research and better search engine ranking.

This SEO tool is called Traffic Travis and I have been using it for about two years now.

I want to share the latest results with you here.

The first message that I sent about Traffic Travis SEO Software (“Thanks Little Buddy!“) reported the following numbers (yes, I keep most of my messages):

“My sales page has moved up in Google from 22 to 19 on the correct spelling of my keyword and from 19 to 16 on a misspelling in less than a week and a half!”

A few weeks later, the second message that I sent about CNet’s #1 SEO tool (“A REAL Search Optimization Tool!“) was this:

"
Not long ago I sent out an e-mail showing a couple of improved positions for some keywords. The results were:

viral marketing e-course (19)
viral marketing ecourse (16)

Both were up three positions since using this SEO tool. You should see them now! The correct spelling has jumped EIGHT positions!

Check them out here:

As a new business, you need to stand out. To stand out, you need to [...]

As a new business, you need to stand out. To stand out, you need to do your own thing, or at least to add your own touch.

Here are a couple of mailing list building tips that you won’t find being over-used everywhere and by everyone.

Surveys:

While many new business owners do conduct surveys, most are not taking advantage of this to build a mailing list. Some businesses only survey their existing customers and subscribers. In other cases, survey participants are let go of, given a ‘linkless’ report or given a coupon for a service they may never need.

Instead of sending your survey participants off with a thank you that leaves no reminder of where they just were, send them to a free, no-opt-in report that contains your business name, logo and links back to your website. Include a sign-up form on the download page and encourage them to sign up for more information; maybe offer a free e-course as an enticement.

Riddles:

People spend all day surrounded by business. Give them a break! Give them something that they can enjoy -a way to step outside of their busy day, even if only for a few minutes.

Riddles are excellent for this, because they make people think. For just a few minutes, they are transported out from under the brain-draining florescent lights. Reward them with a free ebook for their correct answer. The experience will make them feel like there’s life beyond the cubical, before they are mercilessly slammed back into their zombie state.

Now you have a couple of new mailing list building tips for new business. But do not just send these people to your main mailing list. Create a new list for each campaign and keep track of where your subscribers are coming from. This way you know what list building campaigns are working and how to market to your new subscribers.

By incorporating detailed list segmentation techniques into your campaigns, you will also be able to send very targeted messages to subscribers who are interested in certain aspects of your business, but maybe not in everything that you do.

So, jot down a few survey questions, think up a few good riddles and start building a mailing list for your new business!

When is the last time you said or did something that you wish you could [...]

When is the last time you said or did something that you wish you could take back? Something that had you cowering in embarrassment for hours or days… Or, maybe flushed your face, from time to time, years after the fact?

Mistakes don’t just happen in our face-to-face conversations. They happen in email, too.

My inbox receives quite a few ‘apology’ messages:

“Sorry, I sent the right message to the wrong list,”

“Sorry, I sent the wrong link,”

“Sorry my link was broken.”

There are things that you can do about this before it happens, thereby avoiding the embarrassment entirely!

1. Spelling and Punctuation

There are so many words that are so easily misspelled and, usually due to pronunciation. Never write without a dictionary, a search engine, or, at least, a spell checker. Conveniently, a dictionary also has definitions in it, making it virtually impossible to misuse words like “solutions,” “change” and “progress” – ironic, then, isn’t it? It is also a good idea to use proper punctuation. Long sentences, that do not have commas where they should, can be confusing.

2. Proof Read Before You Send

Check grammar and spelling. But (don’t) stop there. Keep in mind that many of your subscribers may not speak perfect English and may not understand contractions. Most languages do not use contractions, so use them sparingly.

3. Test, Test, Test!

Set up e-mail accounts at Yahoo!, AOL, HotMail, GMail, etc. Also install an e-mail client on your computer, such as Microsoft’s Outlook, or Mozilla’s Thunderbird. Send yourself both the text version and the HTML version of every mailing before sending it to your list. Don’t forget to send to You@YourDomain.wtvr and check it from within your hosting account. The point is to check for formatting errors (and deliverability).

Now, none of this goes to say that there will never be a mistake made. Again, we all make mistakes and, sometimes, the worst mistakes we make are when we are being extra careful to not make a misteak…

Food for Thought:

Many e-mail marketers send out fake ‘apology’ messages intentionally. They do not mind trading their credibility for a few dollars.

In the case of sending a message to the wrong list of subscribers, they had a choice and chose to send to you.

All good autoresponders allow for list segmentation; so, list owners do have control over who they send mail to.

More Bitchin Tips from Grey Storm Media

Mailing List Building Tips for New Business

Free Follow Up Email Autoresponder

What do Traffic Exchanges, Safelists and Opt-In Email Marketing Have In Common?

There are many ways to get targeted followers on Twitter. For example, you can find someone in your market and follow people who are following them. Still, your new follower list will not be all that targeted, as you cannot know who are following because they want information in that market, as opposed to those who only followed to get followers. You would have to visit every single one of those profiles to find out.

To get the most targeted followers (and this is real easy!), go to Twitter Search and type in a hash tag related to your market. Obviously, anyone using that particular hash tag in their post is interested in that topic. So, once you get your search results, open each profile in a new window and follow them.

EXAMPLE: If you are marketing anything PS3 related, type #ps3 into the search field and hit Enter. You can follow every resulting profile, or decide whether you want to follow or not by reading the posts that come up for the search, or viewing each profile.

Any way you choose to do that is still very targeted. You can get more targeted with #ps3 games ?. To be extremely targeted, you might search for something like #ps3 #gta or #ps3 #controller.

SPAM!

But, it’s not 100% *unsolicited* spam. You did opt-in and, in most cases today, you double opted in.

Unfortunately, people who are just starting out do not realize that, when they sign up for a free ebook to learn how they can make a few dollars online, their inbox is about to get massacred by tons and Tons and TONS of UNSOLICITED spam.

And, yes, I did say “unsolicited.” It is unsolicited. Remember; people are opting in for your ebook, report, or even a free membership at your website. They are not expecting you to smash them with promotions for a minimum of 365 different products each year (and do you even own one of those?).

The case is somewhat different with Traffic Exchanges and Safelists. If anyone doesn’t know what they are getting into with Traffic Exchanges and Safelists, especially Safelists, they should probably spend less time squinting on the fine print and read the line that clearly states, “If you sign up… you agree to receive” tons and Tons and TONS of promotional mail.

— And expect the amount of mail you receive to number in the multiple thousands!

I get, at least, 3,500 messages per day from Safelists alone. Add to that the 100+ spam messages from other internet “marketers” and the very few, perhaps five, educational and otherwise useful messages that I receive from other internet marketers (without quotes).

Oh, and I use an email client. So, all of this is being downloaded to my computer. My current data file for Outlook is over 670 MegaBytes and growing rapidly! That is a LOT of mail! Consider that, on average, each internet marketing email message (usually text) is between one and three kilobytes in size and that there are 1,024 kilobytes in one MegaByte. Get it? TONS!

My point is, don’t save everything and don’t be afraid to unsubscribe from blatant spammers, or you WILL find yourself unable to catch up.

A perfect example of messages that I delete and lists that I opt-out of:

When your “good friend” Wutsiznuts “gives you permission” to give me “backdoor access,” I might go through the front door you send me to, if I’m in download mode. But, more than likely, you’re only going to watch me leave, because that’s just retarded.

Don’t promise your subscribers backdoor access and then loudly declare, “You can only access the back door if you first walk through the front!”
* Squeeze page = front door and
* Download page = back door, so
* Backdoor access = no opt-in

It is not a hard concept to grasp, which says nothing good about a whole lot of people. You owe yourself an apology if you find yourself on that list.

***

I do realize that there are a few marketers who actually put on their subscription form that “subscribers” will receive “occasional” promotions. And, hey, that’s good; thank you for that. But, most of those that are up front about it are not very up front about it. “Occasional” apparently means “At Least Three Times Per Day.”

If you’re new to having a mailing list, don’t fall into that habit. It is exciting and easy and you just get carried away by it all. I did. And, I imagine, nearly everyone does when they get that first taste of “Ooh, I’ve got my own subscribers… and replies… and someone bought something… and…”

… And you just keep promoting and promoting and promoting…

… AND LOSING SUBSCRIBERS!

Above, I quoted “subscribers.” Here’s why. (And, especially if you are a new marketer, you need to keep this in mind)

I don’t know if anyone else sees things this way —maybe it’s just me— but there is a major difference between a subscriber and an opt-in. An opt-in is the person who you bribed (or “forced“) onto your mailing list in return for an ebook or whatever. A subscriber is ‘natural’; unsolicited. They are those who, for example, go to your website, find interest in your website and want to stay connected. Subscribing is a choice. Opting in is a take-it-or-leave-it only option.

Again, maybe that only makes sense to me. But, in this view, if you treat your opt-ins like subscribers, I guarantee you will see a lot less unsubscribers (or, uh, unopt-inners?).
